                      ……….(USED ACRYLIC PAINT)

Acrylic paint is a fast-drying paint made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion and plasticizers, silicon oils, defoamers, stabilizers, metal soaps.

Acrylic painters can modify the appearance, hardness, flexibility, texture, and other characteristics of the paint surface by using acrylic mediums[9] or simply by adding water. Watercolor and oil painters also use various mediums, but the range of acrylic mediums is much greater. Acrylics have the ability to bond to many different surfaces, and mediums can be used to modify their binding characteristics. Acrylics can be used on paper, canvas and a range of other materials, however their use on engineered woods such as medium-density fiberboard can be problematic because of the porous nature of those surfaces. In these cases it is recommended that the surface first be sealed with an appropriate sealer. Acrylics can be applied in thin layers or washes to create effects that resemble watercolors and other water-based mediums. They can also be used to build thick layers of paint—gel and molding paste are sometimes used to create paintings with relief features. Acrylic paints are also used in hobbies such as trains, cars, houses, DIY projects, and human models. People who make such models use acrylic paint to build facial features on dolls,or raised details on other types of models. Wet acrylic paint is easily removed from paintbrushes and skin with water, whereas oil paints require the use of a hydrocarbon.

Acrylics are the most common paints used in grattage, a surrealist technique that began to be used with the advent of this type of paint. Acrylics are used for this purpose because they easily scrape or peel from a surface.

Mickey Mouse.   An anthropomorphic mouse most often dressed in gloves, red shorts and yellow shoes. While typically given a modest and pleasant personality, he is often an enthusiastic and determined character, seeking new adventures, excitement and mysteries. He often serves as the de facto leader of his friends. He was introduced in 1928.

Minnie Mouse is a cartoon character created in 1928 at Walt Disney Animation Studios. As the girlfriend of Mickey Mouse, she is an anthropomorphic mouse with white gloves, a bow, dress, and low-heeled shoes occasionally with ribbons on them.

In The Powerpuff Girls, the girls were created by Professor Utonium. Initially only meant to be created out of “sugar, spice, and everything nice”,

The Powerpuff Girls are drawn almost completely out of round and soft shapes (except Buttercup) having sharp edges in her design, which contrasts to the primarily blocky and angular locations and characters within the original series. They wear small dresses with a black stripe across the middle, frilly white panties, white tights and black strapped Mary Jane shoes. They have large eyes, oval-shaped heads, stubby arms and legs, and, although they are able to hear, smell, touch, and hold, have no necks, noses, ears, fingers, or toes (often joked about in the series).

Russian Salad also known as Olivier Salad is made from parboiled vegetables and fruits mixed with a yogurt & mayonnaise based dressing and thus its flavor and texture is quite different from the normal salads. Yoghurt gives an extra burst to the salad and makes it quite soothing.

The most commonly used fruits & vegetables in a Russian Salad are potatoes, carrots, peas, apple and pineapple. You can add other ingredients like beans, sweet corn, cucumber, pomegranate seeds, strawberries, grapes, oranges and even paneer cubes.

Also I have made the dressing using just yogurt, you can add some Mayonnaise to make a creamier dressing as well.

The salad is traditionally from Russian cuisine but has now become popular all over the world and the preparation varies from place to place.

Historically Russian salad contained much more exotic and expensive ingredients but over the time as the dish got popular, these have been replaced by more inexpensive and commonly available ingredients.

This Salad is known to form part of dinner in Russia during festivities and as a traditional home dish for the New Year celebration.

Very easy unique diya decoration at home | Decoration for diwali |

Clay diya are often used temporarily as lighting for special occasions, while diya made of brass are permanent fixtures in homes and temples. Decoration may refer to: Decorative arts; A house painter and decorator’s craft.

The earthen oil diya is most important thing for the festival of lights (Diwali). Diya is an oil lamp, usually made from clay, with a cotton wick dipped in vegetable oil or ghee(clarified butter).

They are native of India and are lighted for all festivals and auspicious occasions. The process might sound tedious but as a kid, I always loved doing it and after lightening them it looks beautiful and festive.

Lately, we use candles for multiple reasons but the authentic feel diyas give cannot be replaced. If you are living outside India, the price and supply might limit the use of these traditional lamps.

So today,  for Diwali –  I have something to share where you don’t have to compromise on using the traditional ones and still remain within budget 🙂

Aren’t they beautiful? And yes, you are right, they are pot saucers.

You can light them up with oil and cotton wicks and they look like traditional clay lamps 🙂

This Diwali it is important to lay extra emphasis on social distancing and hygiene protocols to ensure the safety of our children and members of the family.

The enthusiasm in the air feels a little different; with the pandemic taking over our lives, celebrating the festival of lights with the same vigour looks far-fetched; for our children it is nearly impossible for them to play with sparklers, firecrackers and fireworks. Having said that, can the spirit of celebrating a prosperous Diwali ward-off evil from the air? Is it time, we win over darkness, once again?

Well, we will have to wait and see, but for now, we bring you one DIY activity, turning old crayons into new colorful candles. Candles offer a warmth and shine to add that festive touch. You can make the crayon candles with your child; If you have school-age kids, you probably have a small stockpile of crayons. Crayons are great art supplies because they are inexpensive and mostly non-toxic.

Procedure to Make candles

Making candles from crayons is a fun way to use your child’s old and broken crayons. However, since crayon wax is different from candle wax, you will need to add some regular wax into the mix as well. If you don’t, the candles won’t burn very brightly, or for very long.

Setting up – Measure out enough wax to fill your candle holder, plus some extra and set it aside. Try to get the kind of wax that comes in flake or pellet form. It will melt a lot quicker. If your wax comes in blocks, ask your child to cut it into smaller pieces with a butter knife so that it melts quicker. You can also use old used candles lying at home, specially those birthday candles.

Peel and break crayons – If the wrapper does not come away easily, you can ask your child to cut it off using a craft blade, or you can soak them in water for a few minutes. Break the crayon into smaller pieces and set them aside You will need 6 crayons per 1 cup (225 grams) of wax.

Ask your child to carefully place a tabbed wick in the middle of the glass candle holder and secure it with a drop of hot wax. You can also use a drop of super glue or a piece of double-sided tape. You can also place two ice-cream sticks to either side of the wick to hold it steady.

Set up a double boiler – Fill a saucepan with 1 to 2 inches of water. Place a heat-safe measuring cup into the pot. Place the crayons and wax into the glass measuring cup. Melt the crayon and wax over medium heat, stirring often. This will help the wax and crayon melt more evenly. You can use a spoon to stir

Put the colour wax into the glass cup. Ask your child to pour colored wax into it. Let the first layer dry for a few minutes and then pour layers of colored wax into each jar, making sure to let them dry between each layer. Ask your child to repeat this process and continue to pour layers of different coloured wax into each jar and let them dry individually. And your beautiful crayon candles are ready!
